One of the cardinal agenda of the Federal Capital Territory Administration is to
ensure the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals as adopted during the
UN Millennium Development Summit of September 2000. We strongly believe that by
this, the lives of the numerous residents of the FCT, especially those in the rural
settlements, will be positively impacted and the development of the FCT greatly
This portal gives a view of our experiences, our triumphs and challenges in this
noble quest. We are confident that our Stakeholders and Development Partners will
richly benefit from visiting this site.
Let me borrow the words of the UN Secretary General by saying:
"We will have time to reach the Millennium Development Goals – worldwide and
in most, or even all, individual countries – but only if we break with business
as usual. We cannot win overnight. Success will require sustained action across
the entire decade between now and the deadline. It takes time to train the teachers,
nurses and engineers; to build the roads, schools and hospitals; to grow the small
and large businesses able to create the jobs and income needed. So we must start
now. And we must more than double global development assistance over the next few
years. Nothing less will help to achieve the Goals."
Join us in our commitment to actualize this vision.
